Beyond beginners

For you to continue beyond your beginners course we have three beyond beginners courses. Usually one of these courses will be held after your beginners course at the same time and in the same venue. When you have attended all three courses you will be ready for improvers!

(1) You can learn the full English Waltz basic which will take most of a course. We usually add to your Jive as well in order to create some contrast and variety.

(2) You can add figures to your Cha cha cha and Social Foxtrot, while also getting to grips with Rumba (in particular, its timing.)

(3) Or you can learn the basics of some new dances: Tango, Quickstep, Samba, Salsa.

Improvers

Once you have attended the "Beyond beginners" classes you are ready for improvers: in these classes we aim to increase you confidence and familiarity with the construction of the dances you have learnt thus far. We introduce new figures and new ideas which are very characteristic of the dances in question. The gentleman's ability to produce clear shaping and the lady's abiility to comprehend his intention develops considerably as the number of possible figures grows. The extra options now available to the gentleman makes possible a significant improvement in his floorcraft: the art of avoiding collisions.

Beyond improvers

Beyond improvers takes us into advanced territory. The approach here depends very much on the make up of the class.

Modern Technique

We teach modern 21st century dance technique. For instance we teach the Lady to generate forward swing during a spin turn rather than pivot (which necessarily means the gentleman's action is changed too). If you don't know what we're talking about here don't worry. It just means we are up to date.
